Photo editing software is part of a growing arena of photographic solutions available to anyone with a camera. The degrees of capability available in photographic software are overwhelming; however there is a software level out there to fit any level of photographer’s needs. For software to store the occasional snapshot to a brimming portfolio there is something for everyone.

Some people need software photographic solutions that really don’t consider themselves photographers. Many people take snapshots at important events or evenings out and want a place to consolidate and share all of their photos. There are various software packages, some free, that allow people to move their photos from their cameras to their home computer and will create categories and subjects according to the user’s wishes. Others take this photographic solution one step further and allow the user to create slide shows and custom CD’s loaded with pictures for others. Amateur photographers and avid hobbyists might prefer a slightly more robust photographic solution. Some software packages they might consider would have editing options not available in basic photo software which usually only supplies contrast and cropping features. In slightly more complicated software a user could stitch together pictures to create a panoramic or layer pictures with various exposures to create a perfectly exposed photo. There are also some software photographic solutions that will allow the photographer more visual control than basic photo software.

The more complex software packages allow pictures to be airbrushed thus giving the photographer complete control over what stays in the picture and what gets added if necessary. Also, if the photographer chooses, the picture can be reformatted so that it looks like an oil painting instead of a photograph.
Professional photographers use some of the same software photographic solutions as amateurs along with various types of specialty software. Professional photographers come from many different arenas and therefore need varying types of photographic solutions. Some use software that allows them to prepare their photos for professional printing while others use it for publishing purposes. Another common use of software photographic solutions has been for 3D and panoramic tours. Professionals use various pictures and combine them along with special software to allow others a virtual 360 degree look at a space.

Media has also taken an interest in software photographic solutions. Some movie studios use special software to take pictures and add in animations and special effects. With the proper software they could make it look as if a unicorn was prancing along the main road in town.

There are many different software solutions for photographers available today. With the advent of Digital media amateurs and professionals alike have many options to fill their photo software needs.
