Photographic Solutions: Cameras
When trying to determine what photographic solutions one might need the best place to start is with a camera. After all, you can’t take any photographs without one. This then begs the question, “which camera?” With all of the varieties out there the best place to start is to decide whether a Digital or an SLR camera is the right photographic solution for your needs.
Digital cameras capture pictures by interpreting the light that enters the camera as soon as the lens opens. The camera measures this light in pixels and stores all relevant colour and brightness data onto the camera; this is why cameras are sold by mega-pixel capabilities. The higher the mega-pixels means the more the camera can process the light entering the camera at a higher resolution. The best part about digital cameras is that you can usually see the finished picture instantly. When considering a digital camera as a photographic solution you also should think about the type of zoom you would like. Digital cameras offer two types of zoom: Optical and Digital. Optical zoom means that your camera’s lens moves in and out to make the image bigger. By moving the lens in and out it controls how the light enters the camera and thus controls the size of the image. With a digital zoom the camera takes the picture that you see through the lens and uses the electronics inside the camera to blow up the image and make it larger. Digital cameras are a favorite photographic solution for amateur photographers or people who want something that is easy to operate and take lots of snapshots.
Your other photographic solution possibility for a camera is an SLR camera. SLR stands for “single lens reflex”. SLR cameras are usually a little more expensive and are popular photographic solutions for photography professionals and enthusiasts. The SLR works somewhat similarly to a digital camera but the major difference between the two is the lens that is referred to in “single lens reflex”. This lens acts like a mirror and bends the light coming into the camera into a prism. When you take the picture the mirror-like lens moves out of the way and the picture is recorded. The options that come with an SLR camera are endless. SLR cameras come with an optical viewfinder as well as a digital screen like the type found on Digital cameras. SLR cameras also offer a variety of options for things like shutter speed and aperture, or the amount of light you let into the camera. All of these things are to be considered when thinking about your ideal photographic solution.
There are many options available with each type of camera. Your photographic solution will need to incorporate your needs and budget when deciding which camera to choose. Also, there is a need to consider portability, resolution and capability. With such a great variety of special features and options there is no doubt that the perfect product exists that is the perfect photographic solution for anyone that needs one
