Interactive Photography and You

You come across different uses of photography in your everyday life.  Much thought is put into the billboards you pass every morning and the covers of the magazines you read.  Not only is there a world that uses snap and shoot photography to reach you, but there is also interactive photography.  Interactive photography is a little different than conventional photography as the end result is to get you more involved with the final product.
Conventional photography uses one picture at a time to display an idea or information of some sort.  This means that the viewer of the picture needs to be able to glean as much information as possible from one look at a subject.  In order to provide as much information as possible the photographer needs to really hash out the idea or information they are trying to convey in order to maximize the effectiveness of the photo.  While interactive photography does require some of this same consideration and thought, it is much more flexible than a single photo and allows the photographer much more freedom to convey a message or idea.

Interactive photography helps photographers combine more information into a final product.  The possibilities are endless as technology keeps on progressing in this arena, but it is still limited in a way that conventional photos aren’t, and that is media.  Conventional photographs have the flexibility to go anywhere.  Your wallet, a cereal box and advertisement flyers are some examples.  You can see uses of pictures everywhere.  Interactive photography is limited, or enhanced depending on one’s point of view, by the digital world.

Nearly all interactive photography is based in a digital medium.  Panoramic views of hotel rooms where you can zoom in and out and turn around 360 degrees are amazing and only available with digital media.  While you can’t order a panoramic view of a hotel you are considering by mail, you would be hard pressed to find a single photograph that would give you as much information about that hotel room as the interactive photography panorama you can access for viewing.  Same goes with interactive maps.  Being able to see a large area and move around freely in digital space is much easier than thumbing through pages of an atlas one at a time to try and find a particular address.

Interactive photography is making great advances and is becoming more and more common to most people.  What does this mean for you?  Well, it means that you will soon have more options for viewing and information gathering in digital mediums that are much more convenient than conventional methods in non-digital mediums.  It will be easier for you to send and glean information on things you are interested in.

Interactive photography is in no way going to replace conventional photography; they will both still have their own worlds and mediums to lord over.  But it is definitely safe to say that they have the possibility of enhancing each other quite well.
